Jill, Eileen, Rita, and Becky didn’t start out as a team when they began volunteering at EFN.

Over the years, they each stepped up to sort food donations, repack bulk items, and assist at events—helping wherever they were needed. But when they were invited to pack boxes for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), something special happened. They found a rhythm, a routine, and most importantly, a friendship. That’s when they became the “Fab 4.”

Every week, the Fab 4 packs around 96 boxes of non-perishable food for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), ensuring that seniors in our community have the nutritious food they need. The group works like a well-oiled machine — two fill the boxes, one opens products, and another seals and stacks everything.

But volunteering at EFN has given them more than just a sense of accomplishment—it has brought them closer as friends. After their shifts, they often grab lunch together, sharing laughs and stories beyond the warehouse walls. “We’ve become friends as we spent time together on CSFP,” Eileen shares. “We work well together, and it’s always a nice sense of accomplishment when we’re done.”

They have learned many things since volunteering at EFN: that there is still so much good in the world, that many people in our communities rely on the support of EFN and its partner food pantries, and that EFN serves as the central supply hub for food pantries throughout Pierce County.

Together, the Fab 4 has contributed an incredible 251 volunteer hours in 2024 to CSFP, and their impact is undeniable. Jill, Eileen, Rita, and Becky—thank you for your dedication, your teamwork, and the heart you bring to EFN!
