Group Volunteers of the Quarter: State Farm

Our friends from the State Farm DuPont office have quickly become familiar faces here at Emergency Food Network. This group came in for their first Repack Project in August 2019 and managed to pack 14,250 pounds of peppers and cucumbers for distribution to food pantries in just two and a half hours. After this visit to our warehouse, and learning of our large scale means of distribution, State Farm offered us an unexpected donation of repurposed office items!

This donation included 200 computer monitors, 45 microwaves, 7 industrial refrigerators, a tractor, and more! These type of donations help us and our partner programs keep overhead expenses low so that we are able to focus spending on food and program costs. This group has already stepped up in so many ways and we know that they are eager to continue volunteering with EFN in 2020.

Catherine Espel-Logan, Administrative Services Manager at State Farm says, “While volunteerism is encouraged at State Farm, our employees have never needed a nudge to give back to their communities. They cherish the opportunity to be a part of something that impacts others in an unselfish way.” She adds, “State Farm is proud to be part of the community and it is through our involvement in important organizations like EFN that we are able to make a difference.”

Thank you, State Farm!
